This role offers a pay rate of between 38 and 41.60 USD/h

This is a hybrid role, with onsite labwork at Upper Providence, PA.

This role is offered through a 6 months W8 type contract, with possibility to extend.

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated biologist to fill a CW position in the Respiratory & Immunology Biology Unit (RIBU) within RIRU at the company R&D in Upper Providence, PA. The successful candidate will be part of a team to differentiate and characterize cellular models derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and to perform genetic perturbations (KD, KO, KI, overexpression) in iPSC-derived cells for drug discovery applications:
  • Maintain iPSC cell culture, perform differentiate and QC characterization in supporting assay development and translational studies.
  • Perform detection of biomarker changes using various assay methods, such as ELISA, Western,imaging, RT-PCR.
  • Utilize various transfection/transduction methods to knockdwon or overexpress target genes in differentiated cells.
  • Analyze and summarize experimental data using a variety of laboratory instrumentation and computer softwares.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks according to company guidelines, and present data tocolleagues or in team meetings.
Primary tasks will include:
  • Large scale DNA purification and QC.
  • Expression vector preparation for large scale transient transfections.
  • Confirmatory DNA sequence analysis.
  • Plasmid design and construction.
Job Requirements:
  • The candidate will be expected to maintain accurate and organized records and to prepare archiving documents.
  • Has theoretical and practical scientific knowledge in biological sciences equivalent to a BS degree with hands on laboratory experience.
  • A Preferred candidate will have knowledge of molecular biology techniques including microbial cell culture, plasmid DNA purification, DNA subcloning, restriction enzyme analysis, DNA sequencing, expression plasmid construction and experience in the use of molecular biology design software (Lasergene, Clonemanager, and VectorNTI).
Key Experience/Skills/Education:
  • BS or MS in Biological Sciences required with laboratory experience in molecular biology and cell biology.
  • Candidate is expected to have experience in sterile cell culture and gene?knockdown and overexpression) techniques.
  • Experience in cell-based assays (e.g. immune-sandwich, reporter gene etc.) and/or biochemical assays.
  • Ability to execute experiment independently and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Candidate must be able to do independent literature research, analyze, summarize and interpret experimental data and maintain records according to company policy.
  • Candidate must have the ability to cooperate with others both to accomplish scientific goals and to perform general maintenance duties.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Candidate with previous working experience on iPSC differentiation, viral delivery vectors, and/or FACS cell analysis is preferred.
